Reflexology

reflexReflexologists believe that every part of the body is connected by energy pathways, which end in reflex areas such as the hands and feet. Illness, stress, injury, disease, bad eating habits, lack of exercise can leave the body in a state of imbalance with the vital pathways blocked and this tension is mirrored in the corresponding reflex areas.

Applying pressure to these reflex points can improve physical and mental health by easing tension, reduce inflammation, improve circulation and eliminate body toxins. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalances in the feet and these points are worked on to release blockages and restore free flow of energy. The body is stimulated to heal itself.

What happens during a Reflexology treatment?

Clients either sit in a reclining chair or lie on a massage couch. You will be asked to remove your shoes and socks and the Reflexologist will begin to work on your feet using thumbs and fingers to apply gentle pressure. The amount of pressure used is unique to each person. Treatment lasts one hour and a number of treatments will probably be necessary so that the effects build up in your body gradually and gently. It is usually recommended to have a course of 6 weeks in the first instance. Please note that sometimes after treatment it is not uncommon to urinate more frequently, have a headache, feel nauseous, lethargic or dizzy. Drinking lots of water after treatment can help.
