Help with using our web site
Adjusting the appearance of the site
You may be able to make our site easier for you to read by adjusting your browser options. Note that these changes are made to your browser and are likely to affect other web sites as well as the TDF site.
How to increase the text sizes
The exact method varies according to the type of browser that you are using. For example, in the current versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator you can use the View menu to adjust the text size.
How to choose different fonts or colours
You can re-set these pages to use the standard browser colour scheme (usually black text on a white background) or you can apply your own colour scheme and fonts.
In Internet Explorer use the Tools menu to find Internet Options.
Use the 'Accessibility' option to tell Explorer to ignore the colours, fonts and/or type sizes. Ok this box and you can then choose your own font using the Font option and change the text colour using the Colours option.
More advanced users can apply their own colour schemes with the User style sheet option in the Accessibilty box.
Reading files in portable document format (PDF)
Some of our documents, such as newsletters, forms and maps, are in Adobe PDF format. If you haven't got it already, you will need the free Acrobat Reader software to be able to view and print these files.
Download
the free
Acrobat Reader
Users with visual impairments may find it useful to install the latest version of the Acrobat Reader (version 6) which works well with screen readers such as JAWS.
If you have problems with the standard Acrobat reader then visit Access Adobe to find out whether their alternative accessible PDF reader would be more helpful for you.
