About the Disability Foundation

Who we are
The Disability Foundation (TDF) is a registered charity, promoting the lives of all disabled adults, children and their families by supporting them in their desire to live an independent and dignified lifestyle – making their own choices. Our Centre provides an holistic approach to both conventional and complementary treatments and therapies.
The Disability Foundation also has a newly equipped specialist children's sensory room. This environment helps develop sensory and motor skills for physically disabled/special needs children. It additionally encourages children who are carers, non-communicative or frightened children to relax and interact with others.
Along with the room follows a whole range of specialist complementary therapies for children e.g. Baby Massage, and Cranio-sacral Therapy. Many of our adult therapies are also open to children.

Our history
The Disability Foundation (TDF) was founded by Julie Fernandez whose ambition was to create a centre that catered for all forms of disability irrespective of age, gender, religion and financial status. With this in mind Julie approached Janet Desmond and with the first donation from Richard Desmond, Janet and Julie set up TDF as a limited company and registered charity in 1998 gaining its charitable status in 1999.
